Under the lead of their hero Samson, Israelis rebel against their oppressors the Philisters. The beguiling beauty Dalila sees a way to break the opposition: she seduces Samson and doing so learns the secrete of his force. The high suspense of the story is based on biblical material as related in the book of the judges. The staging by Kurt Josef Schildknecht, former general manager of the Saarländisches Staatstheater emphasizes the dramatic components of love, betrayal and religious conflicts.As part of the cross-border concept Luxembourg and the SaarLorLux region as capital of culture 2007, the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra performed in a unique antique surrounding with the conductor Marc Soustrôt. The project is part of the program of the cultural capital 2008 and under the patronage of Her Royal Highnesses the Grand-Duke and the Grand-Duchess of Luxembourg
