Under the lead of their hero Samson, Israelis rebel against their oppressors the
Philisters. The beguiling beauty Dalila sees a way to break the opposition: she
seduces Samson and doing so learns the secrete of his force. The high suspense
of the story is based on biblical material as related in the book of the judges. The staging by Kurt
Josef Schildknecht, former general manager of the Saarländisches Staatstheater emphasizes
the dramatic components of love, betrayal and religious conflicts. As part of the cross-border
concept Luxembourg and the SaarLorLux region as capital of culture 2007, the Luxembourg
Philharmonic Orchestra performed in a unique antique surrounding with the conductor Marc Soustrôt.
The project is part of the program of the cultural capital 2008 and under the patronage of Her Royal
Highnesses the Grand-Duke and the Grand-Duchess of Luxembourg
